Welcome to Alpine Elementary School
We are an elementary school in Sparta, NJ for children in Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1, and Grade 2.

Mrs. Madsen

The 2025–2026 school year marks Mrs. Madsen's first year as Principal at AES and my twelfth year in the Sparta School District. She previously served as the district Math Supervisor, Assistant Principal at Alpine and Principal at Mohawk Avenue School.

Mrs. Madsen earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Kutztown University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Ramapo College. 

As the Principal, Mrs. Madsen is committed to being actively involved in all aspects of curriculum development, daily operations, school culture, and student success. She is excited to partner with staff, students, and families to help continue fostering a supportive, caring, and safe environment for everyone in our school community.

Mrs. Convery

This is Mrs. Convery's eighth year in the Sparta school district. Her career began as a Special Education teacher at Helen Morgan School, and she has taught at Alpine for the two years as an Instructional Intervention Reading teacher. She earned her Bachelor’s degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Master’s degree in Literacy Instruction, as well as a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Centenary University. She is excited to be at Alpine and is looking forward to working with all stakeholders on our continued success.
