Summer 2019's Featured Alumni: Caroline Cooper

  • Caroline Cooper is this Summer's Featured Alumni. A graduate from the Class of 1997, Caroline's nickname was Cara, and to this day most people still call her by that name.

Looking back on high school, Cara's favorite memories were from the plays and musicals. When asked about her passion for the Arts, she stated, "I always had a passion for the Arts, but I think these times is what really solidified my drive to pursue it professionally. There is something so special about people coming together and collaborating, using their specific talents to create something, something that didn't exist before, and after the run, will not exist again. I think that's why the Arts in general are so very important in our education. They give children and young adults a chance to be a part of something bigger than themselves, to be valued for their talent and contribution especially if they don't have conventional inclinations."

After high school Cara continued following her passion for the Arts by earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from New York University. She has since moved on to being an actor both in Broadway and in TV and Film.

As a proud wife to Graham Bowen and mother of two children, Cara has co-founded a support group called Broadway Baby Mamas. This support group is for mothers working in theater in the tri-state area.

When Cara was asked what her favorite quote is, she responded with, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. " In her words, she stated this "pretty much sums up how I try to live my life and how I want my children to live theirs. There is so much wrong with the world and I want them (and myself) to be a part of what is right."

The Sparta High School Alumni Association is proud to feature Caroline (Cara) Cooper this Summer, and we wish her all the best as she continues to grow her support group and follow her passion.
