Harrassment, Intimidation, and Bullying
The Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying Program (HIB) is a result of the New Jersey state mandated law. Dr. Daniel Johnson is the district HIB coordinator. There is a HIB specialist at each school. HIB specialist is the role that I fulfill at the high school. There is an anonymous form you can complete that is available on the main page of the website.
A variety of informational programs will be available during the year to make sure our community is well informed of the HIB procedures. We also offer seminars, assemblies, and school clubs to help students understand appropriate community behavior.
Should you or your child feel that they have been involved in an incident of harassment, intimidation or bullying, you may start by contacting me directly. Please understand that a HIB investigation involves investigating all parties that are named. All investigation information is confidential. If you and your child decide to file a formal HIB by filling out the online form you will be contacted by one of our Vice Principals explaining the HIB process and then a letter letting you know if the incident was/was not deemed a HIB. All students named will meet with one of the vice principals and me. The investigation will take place within 10 days of the date that I receive the anonymous form. Any emails, texts, tweets or voicemails can be used to provided evidence of the infraction. There are a variety of disciplinary procedures that take place depending on the nature of the HIB. Please take the time to review the New Jersey HIB Law.
