Cross Country

  • Registration for Fall Cross Country is now closed.

     Our season will start in early September and should end shortly before Halloween.

    Tentative Practice Schedule

    Tuesdays: We will have a workout and instruction.  We will work on running form, conditioning and pacing.  Practice will end at 3:45 and parents will need to pick up their children up from school.  No late buses.  Please plan on picking your child up at 3:45.

    Wednesday:  We will have a workout and instruction.  We will work on running form, conditioning and pacing. Practice will end around 4:15 and lte buses are provided. 

    Thursday:  We will have a workout and instruction.  We will work on running form, conditioning and pacing.  Practice will end at 3:45 and parents will need to pick up their children up from school.  No late buses.  Please plan on picking your child up at 3:45.

     

    Cross Country meets will run for approximately an hour and will be held at neighboring school courses.  Invitational Meets tend to last longer.  We will provide a bus home from the meets or parents are welcome to arrange for other transportation home for their children.  

    Cross Counttry, like any sport, requires practice.  The more prepared athletes are before the season starts the more success they have during the season.  We encourage everyone interested in participating in the Cross Country Team to begin to run independently as the summer winds down.  By running on your own (or as a family!) 3-4 times a week for 1-2 miles you will find it easier to begin the season.  There are several good pedometer websites and apps for smartphones to plan or track runs.  We recommend running with a watch, any cheap watch will be fine, or using a running app to track runs.  Or if you wish to keep it simple, 4 laps around the track at the high school is 1 mile.
