Welcome to Mohawk Avenue School. Mohawk Avenue opened its doors in September 2000 to its first lively group of fifth graders. Our school has a unique team design as the quote states, “In a Class by Itself”. The building now holds all Sparta fifth graders as well as the district’s administration. These fifth graders unite both Helen Morgan and Alpine Elementary Schools. Students have an opportunity to feel independent in their school setting with the use of individual lockers and team scheduling. This is excellent preparation for middle school routines.
Mohawk Avenue teachers create a positive learning environment while making each student feel like they are a member of their school and community. Mohawk Avenue teachers are paired as a team--each teaching at least one content area to the other's students. Students will also have their special area subjects throughout the day, which are art, music, physical education, and IWL.
