Correct purple Transcript Form (if necessary), sign gold Records Release Form and return to the Guidance Office.
Contact teachers for recommendations and provide them with Request for a Letter of Recommendation form. Provide teachers with college/university teacher recommendation form (if applicable).
Review application and essay(s) with counselor as needed.
Follow up on teacher recommendation(s). Please make sure you give them plenty of time to write one for you.
Submit official SAT, SAT Subject Tests and/or ACT scores to colleges/universities directly from the Educational Testing Service or the ACT Program.
Complete application and mail/send electronically to college/university. Note: application should be completed and mailed/sent electronically before submitting a College Application Processing Form.
Submit hot pink College Application Processing Form and Secondary School Report Form (if applicable) to Ms. DeSciscio or Mrs. Marcino in the Guidance Office. Remember to sign the login sheet in the Guidance Office indicating the date you are submitting your application packet.
Students needing to send mid-year grades should provide a letter to Mrs. Marcino or Ms. DeSciscio for each college/university requesting the information 2 weeks prior to the end of the 1st semester.
Counselor Responsibilities:
Assist student and/or parent in developing and critically refining potential college choices.
Review permanent record card/transcript with student and update as necessary.
Review application(s) and transcript procedures with student.
Compose counselor recommendation and complete Secondary School Report Form where required.
Secretarial Responsibilities:
Generate transcript, copy counselor recommendation/teacher recommendation(s) and original Secondary School Report Form if applicable and upload them to Naviance.
Package with school profile and send electronically or mail.
Record date mailed on transcript folder, and College Application Processing Form and on Naviance.
Mail mid-year grades to colleges as requested.
Generate final transcript and send electronically or mail to student's school of choice.
REMEMBER: PAY ATTENTION TO DEADLINES. Because of the high volume of transcript requests we receive, you must give the Guidance Office sufficient time from the day you log in your College Application Processing Form to the day of sending electronically or mailing. Please note that we have an unusually high volume of requests from November through the end of February. Requests for processing will be on a "first come-first served" basis - indicated by the date the student sings in his/her College Application Processing Forms on the login sheet in the Guidance Office.
