NJ STARS II

The NJ STARS II program enables successful NJ STARS scholars to transfer to a New Jersey four-year public college or university and earn a bachelor's degree at a reduced cost.

A NJ STARS scholar may be eligible for NJ STARS II if the scholar:
  • Earned an associate degree
  • Graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher
  • Has a family income less than $250,000
  • Enrolls in a baccalaureate degree program at one of the 12 participating schools no later than the second semester following county college graduation
  • Enrolls in a full-time course of study (minimum 12 college-level credits) each semester
  • Files a FAFSA and submits all required information within established deadlines
  • Maintains continuous full-time enrollment, unless on a medical or family emergency leave approved by the institution

Students seeking out the STARS II program must apply for admission to one of the 12 participating public colleges or universities. Once admitted, inform the admissions office that you are a current NJ STARS scholar.  You must then provide an official transcript that reflects receipt of an associate degree and cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher.  Notification of your NJ STARS II eligibility will be provided by your four-year public college or university.

* Please note - NJ STARS eligibility does not guarantee admission to a four-year NJ public college or university.
