PDF

PDF -Portable Document Format - is a universal file format that preserves the fonts, images, graphics, and layout of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. Free software for viewing and printing PDF files can be easily downloaded from Adobe to your computer. Click here and follow their directions.

RFP

Request For Proposal - The RFP lists project specifications and application procedures.

501 (c)(3)

501(c)(3): The section of the tax code that defines nonprofit, charitable, tax-exempt organizations; 501(c)(3) organizations are further defined as public charities, private operating foundations, and private non-operating foundations.

Proposal

A written application, often accompanied by supporting documents, submitted to an organization in requesting a grant. Most foundations and corporations do not use printed application forms but instead require written proposals; others prefer preliminary letters of inquiry prior to a formal proposal. Consult published guidelines.

Eligibility

States the criteria an organization or individual must have in order to apply. It is very important to check this item in the beginning of your search. This is a very specific requirement. If in doubt, call the organization.
