Dear Parents/Guardians:
The week of November 16-22 is designated as American Education Week. As a fun activity for our students and their families, we are sending home a collage of baby pictures. To make things more interesting, we are going to challenge you to identify those pictures. To help you along, we will provide you with a list of all the staff members at HMS. Match the pictures to the staff member and send your sheet back to the school by Wednesday, November 19. On Thursday, we will announce the name of the student who was able to identify the most staff members. There is only one rule - You cannot ask any of the teachers questions about the pictures!
Below is the list of activities for the week:
Monday, November 17 HMS Read-a-thon - guest readers share their favorite stories with students.
Tuesday, November 18 D.E.A.R. - 10:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m. - Dr. Goeke shares her favorite story

Here are some tips for a successful parent-teacher conference taken from https://school.family.education.com:
- Jot down everything that you want to talk about at the conference.
- Arrive promptly or a few minutes early.
- Begin with positive comments about the teacher or classroom.
- Avoid lengthy discussions of topics that are not related to the purpose of the conference.
- Be open-minded to suggestions from the teacher.
- Keep your emotions under control.
- Take notes about what has been discussed to share with your child.
- Express appreciation for the conference.
- Do not stay beyond your allotted time.
Wednesday, November 26 is a half-day in preparation for the Thanksgiving holiday. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude at being part of such a wonderful community of supportive parents and staff members and to wish all of you a peaceful, fun and food-filled Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Lorise A. Goeke, Ed.D.
